Almost there
[Social media for slum charity Child of Hope]
There’s plenty of building work going on at the school at the moment … plumbers, masons, painters, column specialists, blackboard specialist, tilers, welders – they are all racing against time to get the new top area finished before the end of this month, ready for the start of the term on Feb 2. With about 30 workmen on site, it’s pretty crowded up there! Click on the photo for more pics.
Martin Hayter said: “It’s exciting to see everything coming together. The work is very hectic and my hair is going greyer by the minute! However, we are still on target and can’t believe that the end seems to be in sight.
“We are very grateful for every donor who has contributed and for everyone’s prayers. I’m looking forward to having a holiday when it’s all finished!”

Your business could benefit from a decluttering… and the start of the year is a great time! An organised place of work undoubtedly makes you more productive. So, take a look at the different ways you can use self-storage to clear up…
Documents
We all have to keep certain documents for several years, but all that paper can take up lots of space. Could you use that area for better, more profitable use? if so… consider transferring the records to a self-storage unit at Store & Secure!
Furniture
When the number of your staff fluctuates, it can often leave you with more chairs, cabinets and desks than you need. But don’t sell them and risk making a loss… if they’re in good nick, simply self-store them!
Tools
Don’t store your daily-use tools in your garage or (worse) van – minimise the risk of theft by hiring one of our secure 24/7 lock-ups. You can get at your equipment at any time and they’ll always be safe. Might even reduce your insurance.
Stock
Increasing numbers of Bournemouth businesses are taking space in our expanding self-storage facility – because it’s low-cost, with no rates nor utility charges, it has free parking with 24-hour access – and they can upscale or downscale quickly for seasonal stock requirements. There’s even a free goods-in/out service!
So, clear benefits from self-storage… it’s a great time to e-mail or call us!

1,000 at the Christmas party!
[Social media for Ugandan slum charity Child of Hope]
It’s true… around 1,000 people attended the Child of Hope Christmas party – and everyone had a meal.
Many of our 360 pupils brought a parent and a sibling, then there were staff and invited VIPs… and a few people who just turned up! Parents and children laid on lots of presentations in true Ugandan style, with dance, drama, poems and special songs. Click the picture to see more images.
The main VIP was the new resident district commissioner of Mbale district. He was shown around our school, where he was much impressed with what we are doing in the district and in the slum. He said that when we officially open our school, we shouldn't hesitate to invite him back and he will try to request the Ugandan President to come and be part of the official opening! He also promised to open a road around our school.
Every one enjoyed their meal of meat and rice and a soda – a bull was cooked especially for the occasion! The children also received gifts for Christmas, including a toy, clothes and shoes.
Thank you everyone who donated to make the party possible, we certainly couldn’t have done it without your support. The kids enjoyed it hugely… the event has clearly become a highlight of the year for them!

Dauntless deployed
[Social media for high-end joinery Kirolite]
Best wishes to the crew of HMS Dauntless as it sets sail for a five-month counter-piracy operation.
Kirolite last year fitted a new counter and fittings to the ship’s wardroom for officers – in solid surface and oak – through a contract with Oyster Yachts, which designed the improvements.
One of the Royal Navy's most advanced warships, it left its home at Portsmouth on January 1 for a routine deployment to the Gulf. The Type 45 destroyer will maintain a continuous presence in the region deterring piracy and keeping the sea lanes open for free and safe passage of merchant vessels.
During her time away Dauntless will make several stops in the Mediterranean for training as well as visiting ports in a number of Gulf States to strengthen ties in the region.
